September 24, 2018, Vispero, formerly known as VFO, today announced its new company name, redesigned website, and a US headquarters move to nearby Clearwater, Florida.
As the world’s leading assistive technology provider for the visually impaired, dedicated to serving our growing community, we came to the realization that our company name did not reflect our spirit. It was clear we needed a name that echoed our passion for not only providing the tools needed for independence, but also what that means at a human level.
“Looking inward, we solicited our family of employees, all of whom understand the impact our products and services have on people across the world,” said Tom Tiernan, CEO of Vispero. “Although so many different ideas were submitted, there was an obvious pattern… a need to incorporate our passion for inspiring hope and independence.”
This is where Vispero was born. Vispero combines two Latin words: visio and spero. Visio means “the vision”; and spero means “hope”. Our hope is not one for sight, but rather for a vision.
Another significant area of change was our office space. It became necessary to relocate to a larger facility to accommodate our increasing headcount and desire for a more collaborative space. The Bayside Corporate Center provides a large, modern, open-office, conducive to a team environment.
“Moving to Bayside was an easy decision for us,” says Tiernan. “Not only is it a great location with excellent interstate access, but it also features amenities like a cafeteria, beautiful views, nearby restaurants and shops that support how our employees live, work, and play.”
“The Bayside Complex provides Vispero with updated space and additional room for growth. Initially, we’ll occupy a 15,000 square-foot area,” says Kathy Austin, Global VP, Human Resources. “Bayside will provide our employees a more collaborative and technology-driven space.”
